Harwood Brittany Settle

Details:

Origin:  Brittany, France
Material:  Norman Oak (now extinct), oak, iron
Age: The Settle was made from a 13th Century door and coffer in the 17th Century. The seat was restored in the early 1900s.
Size: 5' 3" high x 6' 2" long x 22" deep

Brought to the U.S. by the Harwoods, a young couple studying Painting in Paris until the onset of World War II. They later founded The Harwood Foundation in Taos, New Mexico, where this settle resided in their private quarters until her death. Bequeathed to the University of New Mexico and later sold at auction through the Millicent Rogers Museum, Taos, New Mexico.
